Stranded Jimmy Buffett Concertgoers To Receive ‘Concert Cash,’ No Refunds

Over the weekend, Jimmy Buffett fans were left stranded outside of Pennsylvania’s Keybank Pavilion, waiting to enter the venue. After concertgoers waited for hours to only see a few songs, or not even make it into the Pavilion, fans demanded refunds from Live Nation.
Fans took to social media, bashing the venue and Live Nation.
“What a ridiculous mess of a concert last night,” one concertgoer said on the venue’s Facebook page. “Key Bank Pavilion ruined our Jimmy Buffett experience. Stood in line 2 hours, missed half the show, dangerous parking lot departure. Absolutely nothing was professionally handled. Shame on everyone responsible.”
In a statement released to Pollstar, Live Nation responded to the delays.
“While the majority of fans enjoyed a great 2-hour Jimmy Buffett performance at KeyBank Pavilion, Live Nation is working closely with Ticketmaster Fan Support to assist those who experienced delays entering the venue,” Live Nation said.
The statement said that fans who did not pass through the gates of the venue by 8:25 p.m. that night will receive ‘concert cash’ that equal the value of their Ticketmaster tickets. This cash can be applied to other shows at the Pavilion or any other Live Nation venue in the U.S. Buyers will be compensated based on the price of their original ticket, which equates to $50 for lawn and $150 for reserved purchases per ticket. This cash will be awarded to fans who bought tickets directly from Ticketmaster; those who purchased tickets from a third-party retailer will have to contact their seller to seek refunds.
While some fans are relieved to get some sort of money back for their useless tickets, others are not so lucky. Joe Harness of Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey told the Tribune-Review that his ticket reseller did not offer refunds, however, he was able to secure $100 worth of concert cash for the venue after speaking with a local official from the Pavilion.
Other fans took to social media, upset that this was all they would get in return. Some fans were still waiting in line for more than 90 minutes after the concert began. At this point, Live Nation has not commented on the long wait times to get into the venue.
