KISS Announces ‘End Of The Road’ Farewell World Tour

After 45 years, the legendary rock band KISS has announced their final trek, dubbed “End of The Road.”
The announcement appeared exclusively on NBC‘s America’s Got Talent finale this past Wednesday after the band performed “Detroit Rock City.” While dates have not been announced yet, KISS said that updates will come in the following weeks.
“LIVE AND CRUSHING IT tonight was the greatest way to announce the END OF THE ROAD,” Stanley wrote on Twitter. “This last tour will be our BIGGEST & MOST EXPLOSIVE show ever to thank you all and say goodbye. We will make every night unforgettable for everyone. My gratitude to all.”
“It has been an amazing journey with you all. We couldn’t leave without saying goodbye,” Simmons wrote on Instagram. “This show will have the most explosions, the most hits and be the loudest yet!”
KISS is unlike any other band; their larger-than-life show features bandmates wearing 9-inch tall touring boots and signature full-face makeup. Throughout their career, the group has sold over 100 million records worldwide – from their 1974 debut album self-titled to 2012’s Monster.
While they are about to call it quits, this isn’t the first time the band announced an end to touring. In 2000, Gene Simmons said, “There just aren’t any more mountains to climb. We want to go out in style with the people that put us here, the fans.” This was the final tour featuring all four original members – Simmons, Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley, and Peter Criss – but in 2002, the group was back at it.
It wasn’t until 2014 that the original members appeared together to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and just last year, Simmons and Frehley performed together for the first time in more than 16 years at a benefit concert for Hurricane Harvey. The lineup for End of the Road includes Stanley and Simmons along with new members Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer.
“All that we have built and all that we have conquered over the past four decades could never have happened without the millions of people worldwide who’ve filled clubs, arenas and stadiums over those years,” Kiss said in a statement. “This will be the ultimate celebration for those who’ve seen us and a last chance for those who haven’t. KISS Army, we’re saying goodbye on our final tour with our biggest show yet and we’ll go out the same way we came in… Unapologetic and Unstoppable.”
