Comedian Trevor Noah Postpones December Shows To Heal Voice

The South African comedian Trevor Noah, known for hosting Comedy Central’s Daily Show, had to postpone his stand-up tour dates for the rest of the year due to bruised vocal cords.
During his appearance on the Daily Show last week, correspondents Desi Lydic, Michael Kosta, and Roy Wood Jr. read from Noah’s script as he made hand gestures. He was warned by doctors that if he doesn’t rest his voice, he could need surgery.
“As you’ll know when you watch the Daily Show tonight I don’t have a voice right now,” Noah said in a tweet. “I thought that my vocal chords were healed but according to the doctor, flying 36 hours and hosting a giant concert in South Africa didn’t help me.
“So now if I want to get better I have to take it seriously so that I can perform at 100% on my new tour next year. I hate the idea of cancelling shows but I also hate the idea of losing my voice forever so I’m postponing all this year’s stand up shows and working hard on rehabbing the voice.”
Noah was forced to postpone a show at Northern Illinois University, as well as shows in Temacula and San Diego, California. While he noted that all 2018 shows would be cancelled, his Abu Dhabi gig in the United Arab Emirates on December 21 is still on. The sold-out show is reportedly going ahead as scheduled, a spokesperson for the event organizers told Arabian Business.
Following the Abu Dhabi show, Noah is scheduled to head out on tour on January 5 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He’ll make stops on the trek in cities like Toronto, Ottawa, Tampa, Cincinnati, Atlanta, Dallas, and Philadelphia before wrapping-up in Houston, Texas late June 2019. Rescheduled shows have not been announced yet.
