Since the First Responder Bowl was cancelled last night due to inclement weather, Boston College is now offering superfans refunds, as well as free tickets to a 2019 game.

The game between Boston College and Boise State was set to take place yesterday in Dallas, Texas. However, it was suspended for more than an hour due to lightning. According to NCAA policy, lightning calls for a 30-minute delay after a strike within eight miles of the stadium.

Another strike, unfortunately it means the clock resets on the delay…

With five minutes remaining in the first quarter, and BC up 7-0, the game was cancelled and officially ruled a “no contest.” Brant Ringler, the bowl’s executive director, told Dallas News that the storm was originally listed as “scattered thunderstorms,” meaning there was a possibility it would miss the game, but it didn’t.

“There was lightning still in the area, and to have the players in the locker room come out and warm up, the field would be wet as well,” Ringler said. “There were so many factors that went into it, but the main factor is player safety, and based on that we felt it was the best thing to do.”

“We were excited to play in this game and felt safe about it — we’ve got first responders, right?” Boise State head coach Bryan Harsin said. “This is a safe bowl game. But you can’t control the weather.”

The game has officially been ruled a no contest.
