Israeli pop-star Shiri Maimon had to postpone her U.S. tour due to complications obtaining a visa during the ongoing government shutdown.

Maimon, who made her Broadway debut late last year as the lead role of Roxie Hart in Chicago, was scheduled to kick-off her U.S. tour this Saturday. She was set to make stops in cities like New York, Boston, Miami, Los Angeles, and Palo Alto before wrapping-up in late January.

According to the Jerusalem Post, Maimon submitted a work visa for approval in time and was supposed to be approved by the end of December. However, the current government shutdown, which began on December 21, has caused certain delays. The tour ultimately had to be postponed.

“Due to the ongoing government shutdown, we were unable to secure work visas to Shiri Maimon and her band,” wrote the Los-Angeles based Teev production company on its website. “Therefore, unfortunately, we are forced to announce the postponement of the tour. We will update you as soon as we have the new dates.”

While the U.S. Embassy in Israel states that visa services will continue at the U.S. Embassy Jerusalem and at the Branch Office in Tel Aviv during the government shutdown, Maimon’s work visa needs to be approved by the Department of Homeland Security in the U.S. A spokesman for Teev explained that they “waited and were hopeful as much as possible, but since the situation is not yet resolved, we have decided to postpone the tour.”

Postponed dates have not been announced at this time.
