Santana revealed that they will head out on tour this summer in honor of the 20th anniversary of Supernatural and the 50th anniversary of their performance at Woodstock.

The Supernatural Now tour will kick-off on June 22 in Phoenix, Arizona, followed by shows in cities like Seattle, Denver, Austin, St. Louis, Washington D.C., Toronto, Boston, and Hartford. The trek will wrap-up in Wantagh, New York late August. Throughout the run, the Doobie Brothers will open the show.

Carlos Santana explained that both anniversaries were “monumental” moments in his life.

“Woodstock and Supernatural took me to places I never dreamed were possible,” he said in a statement. “I embraced those incredible moments in my life with all my heart. Both were supreme lessons in maintaining focus, heart and integrity in every step every day and to strive to better oneself with a high standard on and off the stage. I cannot think of these two moments without thinking about Mr. Bill Graham and Mr. Clive Davis. They are two of many angels in my life that helped shape my career.”

Supernatural, which was released in 1999, features some of Santana’s top tracks like “Africa Bamba,” “Primavera,” “Maria Maria,” and the smash-hit “Smooth,” which as of 2018, was named the second most successful song of all time by Billboard.

The tour also comes in support of his latest EP, In Search of Mona Lisa, which follows his 2017 record with the Isley Brothers, Power of Peace. Additionally, he is set to release another full-length record produced by Rick Rubin. Santana said that the band is “always moving forward” with new songs and melodies.

“I feel like a 20 year old on stage playing with this band, and they deliver on every song,” he said. “When we hit the stage, we know we will touch your heart and make you dance, sing, cry, laugh and leave your baggage behind. The shows will be well balanced between the hits of yesterday, today and tomorrow…with energy!”

Earlier this month, it was announced that Michael Lang, the original co-creator of Woodstock Music and Arts Fair, will hold a 50-year-anniversary festival this year dubbed Woodstock 50. The festival, set to take place from August 16 to 18 in Watkins Glen, New York, has not announced its lineup yet. Additionally, Bethel Woods, where the official festival was held, will hold its own 50-year anniversary event during the same weekend.

According to Rolling Stone, Santana has decided to play at the Live Nation-sponsored event at Bethel Woods. While he did not say why he chose one festival over the other, he is the only singer so far to have confirmed a spot at either event.
