Baltimore Ravens Freeze Ticket Prices For Second Consecutive Year
For the second year in a row, the Baltimore Ravens will freeze ticket prices, attempting to make games more affordable and family-friendly.
Last year, the team made its first playoff appearance in four seasons, however, this isn’t affecting ticket sales, spokesman Kevin Byrne said in a statement. Ticket prices were last raised in 2017, marking the first price increase since the team won the Super Bowl championship in 2013. In 2017, ticket prices increased between 4 and 10 percent, which team executives attributed to the $120 million upgrade at M&T Bank Stadium.
However, the team has seen a decline in home game attendance during the past few years. Before the 2018 season, concession item prices were significantly lowered, the Baltimore Business Journal reports. Soft pretzels, originally $4.25, dropped 53 percent to $2, while french fries dropped 50 percent to $3. While there are no other reports of additional cuts at this time, the simple price freeze and concessions are a step the team hopes will help fans financially.
During this past season, the team garnered attention with rookie quarterback Lamar Jackson; the team won six out of seven regular-season games, but ultimately lost during the AFC wild-card round to the Los Angeles Chargers in January.
Earlier this week, ESPN reported that the Ravens struck a four-year, $55 million deal with Earl Thomas – the richest deal for a non-quarterback in the team’s 24-year history. Thomas will join the team along with Mark Ingram II, who accepted a three-year, $15 million contract with the team this week as well.
“I think it’s going to be dangerous; I think we’re going to be explosive,” Ingram said of himself and Jackson playing together. “I think we’re going to change the game.”
This year, the Ravens will take on teams like Cincinnati Bengals, New York Jets, Miami Dolphins, and Seattle Seahawks, along with Super Bowl LIII champions New England Patriots. The NFL season kicks-off on Thursday, September 5.
