Alt-rock/metal band Tool announced a string of tour dates this spring and summer following news of a highly-anticipated forthcoming record.

The shows will coincide with a handful of previously-announced festival dates, including Jacksonville’s Welcome to Rockville, North Carolina’s Epicenter, Chicago Open Air, and Great Britain’s Download Festival. Throughout the trek, they’ll make stops in cities like Birmingham, St. Louis, Des Moines, Berlin, Amsterdam, and Madrid before wrapping-up in Lisbon early July.

Earlier this month, the group revealed they are almost done with a new album – their first since 2006’s 10,000 Days. In an Instagram post, members Danny Carey, Adam Jones, and Justin Chancellor posed with producer Joe Baressi and engineer Bob Ludwig, pointing at new music. Additionally, vocalist Maynard Keenan posted on Twitter that the record release date is somewhere between mid May and mid July, promising more updates over time.

Tool is best-known for their heavy-metal sound on 1993’s Undertow and  Ænima in 1996, releasing singles like “Sober” and “Stinkfist.” Their third LP, Lateralus, earned them a Grammy Award in 2001 for Best Metal Performance with the single “Schism,” followed by another Grammy in 2006 for 10,000 Days. Their latest album garnered global attention, scoring the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart. Since 10,000 Days, the band has taken a break, touring on and off, but hasn’t released any new music.
