U2 Brings ‘The Joshua Tree World Tour’ Across The Globe To Celebrate 1987 LP

U2 are bringing their ‘The Joshua Tree Tour,’ in support of the 1987 hit record The Joshua Tree, to more countries across the world.
The tour, which originally kicked-off in May 2017 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the record, visited North America, Latin America, and Europe through October 2017. U2 guitarist/keyboardist/vocalist Edge is excited that they’ll finally be able to bring the trek down under.
“We really, REALLY wanted to bring The Joshua Tree to New Zealand, Australia and Asia,” he said in a release. “We promised we would and finally, now we can say that we will see you in November… It’s going to feel like a homecoming and we are very excited.”
The outing will kick-off in Auckland, New Zealand on November 8, followed by shows in Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney, and Perth. Early December, they’ll perform a two-night show in Tokyo before wrapping-up in Seoul, Korea on December 8. The group hasn’t visited New Zealand and Australia since their 360 Tour in 2010 or Tokyo since the Vertigo Tour in 2006, and this will be their first time ever performing in Singapore and Seoul.
“Our audience has given the Joshua Tree a whole new life on this tour,” Bono said in a press statement. “Doing these shows has been very special for us, a lot of emotion… From the despair of how relevant some of the dark songs still are, to the joy, pure fun of the staging… it’s quite a ride. And now we get to do it all over again. Auckland, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Sydney, Tokyo, Singapore, Seoul… We’re coming for you.”
The Joshua Tree, their fifth studio album released back in March 1987, featured singles “With or Without You,” “I still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For,” “Where the Streets Have No Name,” “In God’s Country,” and “One Tree Hill.” The LP followed Wide Awake in America and precedes Rattle and Hum. While it was inspired by both American and Irish roots music, it was more hard-hitting than the band’s previous work, touching on politics and literature.
