Matthew Broderick, Sarah Jessica Parker To Star in Broadway’s ‘Plaza Suite’
The revival of Neil Simon’s Plaza Suite is returning to Broadway next year and is set to feature real-life married couple Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick.
The show, produced by Ambassador Theatre Group, Gavin Kalin Productions, and Hal Luftig, will run for a limited 17 weeks at the Hudson Theatre. Another edition of the show will run at Boston’s The Colonial, which is also run by Ambassador. Benjamin Hickey will make his directing debut following his performance in Matthew Lopez’ The Inheritance on Broadway this fall.
Plaza Suite is split into three acts, with each part focusing on a different couple – typically played by the same actors. It is staged inside a suite in New York’s Plaza Hotel. While it officially ran on Broadway in 1968 and was made into films in both 1971 and 1987, the show will have a more modern take this time around. Broderick also has a history with the playwright, as he won a Tony for his performance in Simon’s Brighton Beach Memoirs and appeared in his other plays Biloxi Blues and the Odd Couple.
Parker and Broderick previously starred in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, and this show will mark their reunion on Broadway.
Plaza Suite will begin previews on Broadway on March 13, 2020, followed by an opening night on April 13. In Boston, the show will run from February 5 to 22. Additional casting has not been announced at this time. For more information about the play, visit PlazaSuiteBroadway.com.
