Garth Brooks, Elton John Carried Thanksgiving Best-Sellers

Country superstar Garth Brooks claimed the top spot on the Thanksgiving list of best-selling entertainment events, but it was classic rockers like Elton John, Billy Joel and the Eagles that carried the rest of the list. Brooks edged the competition and earned heavy sales for his takeover of Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium in early May. He also nabbed the No. 6 slot for an upcoming gig at Ford Field in Detroit in February.
Meanwhile, Elton John stole three spots all within the Top 10, while musical titans The Eagles and Billy Joel also grabbed three spots in the bottom half of the list. The Rocket Man appeared for his scheduled spring shows in Columbia, Brooklyn and Hershey, while Joel’s stadium gig in Buffalo and The Eagles’ Dallas and Atlanta concerts were also big sellers.
Of course, the holiday list had to feature football games. Turkey Day showdowns between the Falcons & Saints and Cowboys & Bills clocked in at No. 2 and No. 11, respectively. Sunday’s bout between the Chiefs and Raiders, which was the best-seller on Tuesday, fell a few spots to No. 4. Other sporting events to rank were tonight’s NBA clashes of Lakers v. Wizards and Heat v. Warriors, Premier Boxing matchup between Gervonta Davis and Yuriorkis Gamboa, and an April meeting between the NHL’s Maple Leafs and Canadiens.
