The 2,967 seat San Diego Civic Theatre is the region’s largest and most attended performing arts venue. The Civic Theatre is owned by the City of San Diego and is managed and operated by San Diego Theatres for the community.
Opened in January 1965, the Civic Theatre has hosted the world’s finest talents in the fields of opera, classical music, dance, comedy, contemporary music, and Broadway. Additionally, it has served as a community gathering place for inaugurations, governmental addresses, religious services, political activities, lectures, educational presentations, and corporate meetings.
The Civic Theatre’s primary producers and presenters consist of the San Diego Opera, Broadway/San Diego, La Jolla Music Society, and California Ballet.
The San Diego Civic Theatre offers plush seating for 2,967 patrons. Seats are numbered from the center of the theatre, beginning with numbers one and two, progressively going higher toward the outer edges. Even numbers are on House Right and odd numbers are on House Left. Rows are labeled alphabetically in ascending order from the stage beginning with Row A. Please note that during certain productions when the orchestra pit/extended orchestra pit aren't required and removable seating is in place, the first three rows are AA, BB, and CC then Row A.
